Meet the Winemaker
– Adam Mason

With over 30 vintages of experience in Europe, USA and South Africa, Adam is loaded with the knowledge and experience to bring you only the best Vriesenhof wines.

He has visited some of the great wine producing regions of the world, including many visits to Bordeaux, the Rhone, Douro Valley, Australia and New Zealand. Career highlights include harvests in California, Tokaji and some time at Klein Constantia and Mulderbosch Vineyards. 

Adam's Winemaking Philosophy

“I am enthralled by the process in which a perishable grape can be preserved for lifetimes in the form of wine. Not only is a moment in space and time thus captured, characters hidden beneath the skin of the grape, and that of the makers are revealed through this transformation.  As an avid plantsman, I celebrate Mother Nature’s will to nurture us, and her call for us to observe and act in accordance with the seasons. I believe making wine to be the logical conclusion of gardening – the high art if you will, of horticulture.”
